Anita Żochowska

Specialization and practice areas

As a psychologist and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist, I support adults, adolescents and children in various life and emotional difficulties.

In my work, I help people who:

• struggle with depression, anxiety disorders or adaptation difficulties,

• experience violence (mental, physical) or social exclusion,

• feel helpless, empty, dissatisfied or dissatisfied with themselves,

• have difficulties in relationships with loved ones or in establishing interpersonal relationships,

• face problems in coping with emotions, expressing them or controlling them,

• suffer from mood disorders, auto-aggression or difficult life experiences.

I am particularly close to working with people on the Autism Spectrum and LGBTQ+ people. I also support young people at risk of social maladjustment, offering understanding and tools to build positive change.

Experience and qualifications

Education:

  • SWPS University School of Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy: currently undergoing a 4-year cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy training

  • Higher Vocational Education School: postgraduate studies in pedagogical training, qualifying to work with children and youth as a school psychologist

  • Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University: completed a uniform master's degree in psychology.

Professional experience:

I gained my professional experience in various institutions, working with people of all ages:

  • Youth Sociotherapy Center: currently I work as a psychologist, working with young people and their parents,

  • Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology in Warsaw: I completed a clinical internship at the Department of Neuroses, Personality Disorders and Eating Disorders, supporting adult patients,

  • Military Unit: work as a psychologist with soldiers and employees of the unit,

  • Primary School: school psychologist, working with children, young people and their families.

Work methods and therapeutic philosophy

I believe that change is possible through joint discovery of internal resources and work on difficulties in an atmosphere of acceptance and empathy. Cognitive-behavioral therapy allows for combining work on thoughts, emotions and behaviors, which brings real effects in the everyday lives of my patients.

What is particularly important to me in working with a patient?

I care about building a relationship based on mutual respect, authenticity and trust. I believe that each person has the strength to cope with difficulties, and my role is to support them in this process.

My favorite quote:

"You can't change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails to reach your destination." - Jimmy Dean
