Get out of addiction: Online addiction therapy
What are the symptoms of addiction and when is addiction therapy necessary?
❌ Shorter and shorter periods in which one thinks soberly about one's behavior or tries to find help.
❌ Lack of control over the use of a substance or specific behavior, despite attempts to curb it.
❌ Feeling a compulsion to take a substance or perform a certain action and lacking control over behavior.
❌ A growing need for a substance or a need to engage more intensively in a behavior.
❌ Withdrawal from daily life, giving up interests and maintaining relationships with other people, even loved ones.
❌ Using a substance or performing a certain action with the knowledge that one is harming oneself or loved ones.
❌ Financial, professional, health, or personal problems that nevertheless do not motivate you to give up a stimulant or stimulating activity.
❌ Progressive physiological withdrawal symptoms (abstinence syndrome) and reaching for the same or similarly acting substance to reduce the severity of symptoms, or to avoid abstinence symptoms.
The presence of the above symptoms is a signal that a person is an addict.
Are there different types of addictions?
We are talking about four types of addiction:
Mental addictions - are the result of the interaction between the substance taken, the person taking it and the context in which this interaction occurs.
Physical (physiological) addictions - result from the effects of an agent (e.g., alcohol, drugs, narcotics) on the body's metabolic processes.
Social addictions - involve the desire to belong to a social group that considers the use of psychoactive substances as a customary norm and an integrating element.
Behavioral addictions - involve the performance of an activity or depend on a particular drive. These include Internet addiction, compulsive shopping, compulsive sexual behavior (pornography addiction, masturbation addiction), gambling, tanning addiction, food addiction, problematic work engagement and others.
Addicts may suffer from memory loss, fluctuating moods, depression, gastrointestinal complaints, cardiac ailments and experience confusion. They are often irritable and, in extreme cases, do not control their aggression.
Do you recognize these symptoms in yourself or a loved one? This is the best time to start addiction treatment!
Why choose online addiction therapy?
✅ Greater availability of specialists
In many cities, there are no addiction treatment clinics or any addiction treatment center. Nor is it always possible to get a quick inpatient appointment with a psychologist or therapist.
Online therapy is an ideal solution, as you are only a few clicks away from receiving expert support.
✅ Discretion and comfort
Undertaking therapy is a challenge for most addicts. Some of them struggle with feelings of shame, so they steer clear of the addiction treatment center by a wide margin.
Online therapy allows for anonymity for all addicts who are unwilling or unable to seek treatment at an inpatient, day care or outpatient facility. The person receiving online therapy feels more comfortable talking about difficulties from the comfort of their home.
✅ Saving time and money
For many people living in small towns, inpatient therapy is time and financially burdensome because they have to commute to it.
By choosing online therapy, you can completely reduce the time and cost of travel. All you need is a computer, a stable Internet connection and Skype messenger or any other application that facilitates contact with a specialist.
✅ High efficiency
Many people mistakenly believe that addiction treatment can only take place in inpatient form. Yes - in the case of patients struggling with addictions, it will often be a good, or even advisable, solution to start treatment with a stay in a detoxification unit, for example. However, this mainly applies to those struggling with alcohol or drug addiction.
Treating addiction by participating in online therapy is just as effective as participating in traditional therapy and meeting in the office with a psychologist or therapist. Numerous studies and scientific publications confirm this.
